Winnipeg, Manitoba – APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) and Canada’s Music Incubator at Coalition Music are pleased to announce the creation of a new program in support of emerging First Nations, Inuit or Métis artist managers.

APTN and Canada’s Music Incubator at Coalition Music will be selecting two candidates to take part in an eight-week Artist Manager Professional Development Program. This all-expenses paid opportunity will provide customized and ongoing mentorship for emerging artist managers, self-managed artists or transitioning industry professionals. Grant recipients will be given the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in specific areas, including touring, booking shows/festivals, talent-buying, event production, contract negotiation, budgeting, accounting, artist development, marketing, radio promotion, publicity and more.

The Artist Manager Professional Development Program Grants are valued at $15,000 each, which includes return airfare, ground transportation to and from Toronto, program fees, accommodations and a weekly living allowance for the duration of this program.

• Application deadline is September 23, 2016
• Recipients must be available to attend the program from November 1, 2016 – December 21, 2016, at Canada’s Music Incubator at Coalition Music, 1731 Lawrence Avenue East, in Toronto
• The program runs Tuesday Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and is offered in English

This new initiative is in line with APTN’s long history to support the creation of music as a unique reflection of Aboriginal culture. The first national Aboriginal network in the world is grateful for this opportunity to partner with Canada’s Music Incubator and the award-winning artist management company, Coalition Music (USS, Simple Plan, Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Tom Cochrane, Justin Nozuka, Andee). Visit aptn.ca/grant for the APTN Artist Manager Professional Development Grant online application and entry requirements. APTN and Canada’s Music Incubator at Coalition Music will make the final decision. Please note that both organizations will be unable to provide critiques to unsuccessful applications.
